Emma de Warren is a french visual artist living in Berlin since 2019. Using a range of media, from painting, to video, poetry or performance, she plays with the viewer’s raw emotion.
Anger, repulsion, shame, but also, care, intimacy, and pride, are comically portrayed and voyeuristically exposed. Our sensitivity and fragility, which connects us as humans, and relates the subject and the viewer, is at the forefront of every work. Femininity, and it's pre-conceptions, are called into question.
With a background in social philosophy and care ethics acquired at the University of Exeter, Emma now studies fine arts and painting at the Berlin Weißensee school of Art and Design. She recently started to focus on representing queer ways of living, and the questions about our identities and the systems we live in these bring up.
